The story
Marbled & Fin opened its doors in downtown Charleston in 2024, marking the first steakhouse concept from The Neighborhood Dining Group — the team already responsible for some of the Southeast's most celebrated restaurants, including Husk, Minero, Delaney Oyster House, and The James. The result is a modern take on classic fine dining, where premium beef and the freshest seafood share equal billing with a globe-spanning wine list and an extensive collection of spirits and whiskey.
That wine program has earned the restaurant a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2025, a recognition that reflects both the depth of the list and the seriousness with which the team approaches every aspect of the guest experience.
The restaurant is the vision of David Howard, CEO and Founder of The Neighborhood Dining Group and a James Beard Awards Semi-Finalist for Outstanding Restaurateur. Howard's path to Charleston is anything but straightforward: raised on a family farm in rural England, inspired by his Danish mother's cooking, he declared at eight years old that he would become a chef. Formal culinary school followed, then summers in St. Moritz, an apprenticeship at Claridge's in London, and stints across Denmark, Switzerland, Ireland, and Bermuda before he moved to the United States in 1982.
When Howard launched his first restaurant in 1991, he hand-wrote the guiding principles that still shape NDG today — staff health insurance, a 401(k) with company match, respectable wages, paid vacations. That culture of integrity runs through every level of Marbled & Fin, where General Manager David Fluharty and Executive Chef Kenny West translate those values into an evening guests remember.
Every moment at Marbled & Fin is, in the restaurant's own words, "crafted with intention." The steakhouse and seafood menu is built around premium beef and the day's freshest catch, supported by a bar that opens daily at 4 PM and a dinner service that follows at 5 PM. Weekend brunch — Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM — extends the experience beyond the classic steakhouse rhythm, making the room as relevant on a Sunday morning as on a Friday night.
Private dining is available for celebrations, and the attentive hospitality that defines The Neighborhood Dining Group's broader portfolio is very much present here. With a second location already announced for Savannah in 2026, Marbled & Fin is clearly more than a debut — it's a statement about what a modern American steakhouse and seafood restaurant can be.
