The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Family Legacy on the Intracoastal

The Therien family has been part of South Florida's restaurant fabric since 1971, when they opened the original Banana Boat in Fort Lauderdale. After moving that concept to Boynton Beach in 1978, they set their sights on something more ambitious. On June 1, 2004, Prime Catch opened its doors — and the response was immediate. Zagat named it "Best New Restaurant in Palm Beach County" after just its first year, and the praise hasn't stopped since. It remains the first significant fine dining destination to take root in Boynton Beach.

Water Views, Fresh Seafood, and a Wine List Worth Noticing

Every table at Prime Catch looks out over the water. The restaurant's signature feature, Prime Island, is a bar positioned directly in the Intracoastal Waterway — a setting that's genuinely difficult to replicate. The seafood here is built around freshness, with a kitchen led by an award-winning, certified culinary chef whose approach blends clean flavors with an upscale sensibility. OpenTable diners have repeatedly voted Prime Catch among the Top 10 Best Seafood Restaurants in Palm Beach County.

The wine program is equally serious. General Manager Amy Potter, who joined the team in 2016 and has helmed the GM role since 2023, spent three years as a professional wine consultant before moving into hospitality full-time. Her expertise shaped a wine list that earned Prime Catch the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2024 — a recognition that reflects genuine depth and curation, not just a long list.

The People Behind the Experience

Amy Potter's path to Prime Catch is a good story in itself. A University of Cincinnati graduate who started in retail fashion buying, she eventually followed her energy into hospitality, working her way from corporate chains into upscale dining. She and her husband were regulars at Prime Catch's Sunday brunch long before she joined the staff — which says something about the kind of place this is. Her Maître D'-style approach to hospitality sets the tone for the whole floor.

The Therien family remains deeply involved, supporting the local community through fundraisers and the Chamber of Commerce, and maintaining close relationships with staff and vendor partners across two decades of operation.

Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, and Happy Hour

Prime Catch operates across the full day — lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and a weekday happy hour from 3 to 6 PM with discounted wines by the glass, beers, and cocktails. Indoor and outdoor spaces accommodate different moods, from a relaxed bar bite at the waterfront bar to a full seafood dinner with a bottle from the award-recognized wine list. For anyone seeking polished, locally rooted seafood dining in Palm Beach County, this is a reliable and well-earned destination.
