The story
The Palm has been a place where people come to celebrate life since 1926 — and the Boston location, set in the heart of the financial district at One International Place, carries that same weight of history. Wine Spectator recognized the restaurant with its Award of Excellence in 2014, a fitting nod to a dining room that has always taken the full table experience seriously.
The origin story is one of happy accidents. When Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi arrived in New York from Parma, Italy and opened their first restaurant, a thick Italian accent turned "Parma" into "Palm" on the registration papers. That founding spirit — Italian warmth, generous hospitality, and a refusal to cut corners — has shaped every location that followed. The Palm became a steakhouse almost by chance too: an early customer requested a steak, and John Ganzi ran up Second Avenue to a butcher to fill the order. They never looked back.
Four generations of the Bozzi and Ganzi families have shaped the restaurant, each adding their own chapter. The second generation introduced the two-pound lobster that launched the signature Surf 'n' Turf combination. The third relaxed the atmosphere and brought in a younger crowd without losing the regulars. By the time Boston joined the family, The Palm had refined a formula that balances Italian-American comfort with the kind of seafood and prime beef that keeps guests returning across decades.
The Palm describes itself plainly and accurately: "Authentic. Intimate. A little quirky. Always amazing food." The walls of Palm locations are famously covered in caricatures of regulars and celebrities — a tradition that turns the dining room into a living record of the people who have made it their own. It is the kind of place where a business lunch and a family celebration can happen side by side without either feeling out of place.
The Italian and seafood roots run through everything. Whole lobster has been a signature since the 1940s, and prime beef remains the anchor of the menu. The Palm's philosophy — "treat guests like family, serve great food, and always exceed expectations" — is not a tagline so much as an operating principle passed down since the founders first opened their doors nearly a hundred years ago.
For private events and catering, the Boston location is well equipped, and the room suits everything from corporate dinners to milestone celebrations.
