The story
Eddie Merlot's on Congress Street is an upscale contemporary American steakhouse built around a straightforward promise: an exceptional experience for every guest. Part of the Dividend Restaurant Group's carefully curated portfolio, the Boston location brings the same elegant interiors and exacting standards found across the brand to the heart of the city, with a wine program strong enough to earn a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023.
The menu is anchored by USDA Prime beef hand-cut in house and aged a minimum of 28 days. Filet Mignon comes in 8 oz. and 12 oz. cuts, while the Prime Ribeye — available as a classic 16 oz., a Bourbon-glazed version with brown sugar and onion straws, or a 22 oz. bone-in Cowboy Cut — gives serious steak lovers plenty to consider. For those who want to go further, Australian Wagyu from Rangers Valley and American Wagyu from Snake River Farms in Idaho round out the top of the menu.
The seafood side of the kitchen is equally serious. Faroe Islands Salmon can be grilled, cedar-plank roasted, or blackened. Chilean Sea Bass arrives with a maple-apple cider vinaigrette and balsamic glaze. Georges Bank U-15 scallops appear alongside colossal shrimp in the Mojo Shrimp & Scallops, and a Seafood Tower — built from colossal shrimp, cold water lobster tails, oysters, and tuna poke — makes a striking centerpiece for the table.
Starters like Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with corn relish and Cajun remoulade, Oysters Rockefeller finished with Pernod and hollandaise, and Ahi Tuna Wontons with Asian ginger chili sauce show the kitchen's range before the main event even arrives.
Eddie Merlot's Boston is well set up for groups. Elegant private dining rooms accommodate everything from intimate business dinners to larger corporate gatherings, with AV equipment available and full coordination support for logistics like florals and entertainment. The team-building and private events program is a genuine part of the restaurant's identity — not an afterthought.
The kitchen also periodically hosts ticketed chef experiences. The Master Chef Grilling Experience, for instance, takes guests through five cocktail-paired courses spotlighting regional American barbecue traditions, led by the Executive Chef.
The award-winning wine list is one of the restaurant's defining features, recognized by Wine Spectator for its depth and curation. It is designed to complement both the steakhouse and seafood sides of the menu, and the team is attentive to helping guests make the right pairing — whether that's a bold red alongside a bone-in ribeye or something lighter with the Faroe Islands Salmon.
