Disco Ranch occupies the iconic Horn of Zeese building on the edge of Boonville, a landmark address in Mendocino County's Anderson Valley. It is the vision of Wendy Lamer, whose more than three decades in fine wine and specialty foods shape every bottle on the shelf and every plate on the patio. Wine Spectator recognized the program with its Award of Excellence in 2020 — a fitting acknowledgment of the care Lamer brings to curation.

The Person Behind the Place

Lamer's path into wine began at eighteen, under the mentorship of Tim Hanni, one of the first Masters of Wine in America. She went on to work with major wine and spirits companies, tour vineyards in France, Italy, Germany, and South Africa, and open successful wine operations across Georgia and Arizona. Family and a deep love of the grape eventually brought her to Boonville, where she channels all of that experience into something deliberately unhurried and accessible.

What to Expect

The concept is straightforward: a well-chosen balance of local and imported wines alongside artisan food items, with the kind of personal knowledge and interaction that makes the experience feel less like retail and more like conversation. The wine program leads with Mendocino County producers, then reaches into sparkling wines and classics from France, Spain, and Italy — the Spanish selections in particular reflect Lamer's eye for European character at every price point.

Cheese, charcuterie, and all the things that pair well with wine anchor the food side. Guests can settle into the casual indoor market or take a seat on the outdoor patio; everything is also available to grab and go for a picnic or a gathering at home. Disco Ranch also offers themed six-packs — curated sets like Espana and Viva la France — for those who want a ready-made Spanish or European exploration to take home.
