The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Pledge, Not a Slogan

Cameron and Amanda Lumsden came to Fork after 23 years of helping start, open, and run restaurants. When they began shaping the idea for Fork, they were clear-eyed about one thing: words like "local" and "sustainable" are easy to print on a menu and harder to actually live by. Their answer was the #LoyalToLocal pledge — a genuine commitment to sourcing many of the restaurant's key ingredients from Boise and Northwest farmers, ranchers, bakers, distillers, brewers, producers, and cheesemakers. The result, as they put it, is "a menu that is as surprising as it is familiar."

That seriousness about sourcing earned Fork a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, recognition that reflects not just the depth of the wine and beverage list but the overall integrity of the program. Many of the beers, spirits, and wines on offer come from the broader Northwest region, keeping the local ethos consistent from kitchen to glass.

The Space

Fork occupies one of Boise's oldest downtown landmarks on N. 8th Street, painstakingly restored and updated into a comfortable, relaxed dining room. Local artisans crafted details throughout — tables and glassware made from reclaimed Idaho barn wood and recycled materials. The room feels considered rather than decorated, which suits the straightforward American cooking it frames.

When to Come

The kitchen runs lunch and dinner through the week, with weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am to 2:00pm — a useful anchor for a leisurely morning in downtown Boise. The restaurant also accommodates private parties and events, with a dedicated private room available for booking. A wine club and a Corkage for Community campaign round out a beverage program that Wine Spectator found worth recognizing.

For anyone looking for honest, ingredient-driven American food with a strong sense of place, Fork makes the case that local sourcing and genuine hospitality are not trends — they're a way of doing business.
