Catch LA

A decade into West Hollywood, Catch LA reinvents itself with Tokyo-sourced fish, a Rockwell-designed rooftop, and a Wine Spectator-recognized cellar.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Ten Years In, a New Era

After a decade on Melrose Avenue, Catch LA has stepped into a sharper version of itself. The restaurant — perched above the corner of Melrose and San Vicente in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District — has undergone a full refresh: a redesigned interior by the Rockwell Group, an evolved menu, and a renewed commitment to what made it a destination in the first place. That focus is seafood, and it runs deep enough to source fish directly from Tokyo's Toyosu Market.

The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, earned in 2022, reflects the same attention to quality that now anchors every element of the experience, from the wine list to the kitchen.

The Menu

The approach is shareable and layered — designed for the table to graze rather than march through courses. Signatures like the Catch Roll (crab, salmon, miso-honey) and Truffle Sashimi (tuna, hamachi, chili ponzu, black truffle purée, Kaluga caviar) anchor the cold section, while newer additions — Crudo di Catch, Grilled Shishito Peppers with yuzu chili garlic, and Angry Lobster Mafaldine — push the menu forward without abandoning what regulars know.

The nigiri program is a particular statement. Charcoal-seared Toro Kami, Caviar Toro with barrel-aged soy, and Golden A5 Wagyu nigiri topped with Kaluga caviar speak to the kitchen's ambitions. For those who want the full picture, the Catch Nigiri Flight brings together eight pieces across four cuts. The Wagyu Hot Rock program — featuring A5 Kobe from Hyogo Prefecture, Olive Beef from Kagawa, and Snow Beef from Hokkaido, all cooked tableside — extends the seafood-forward menu into something more expansive.

Comfort runs through the list too: Baked Lobster Mac & Cheese, Pretzel Croissant Pull Apart Bread, and Wagyu Fried Rice are the kind of dishes that explain a decade of loyalty.

The Setting

The retractable rooftop is the room that defines Catch LA. Open-air when the weather allows — which in West Hollywood is most of the time — it frames views stretching from Downtown Los Angeles to the Hollywood Hills. The space also includes the Emerald Room and a wraparound outdoor terrace, available for private events.

The cocktail program matches the energy of the room: the Catch Dirty Martini arrives with furikake mascarpone olives; the Fluffy Margarita and Bananas Foster Old Fashioned round out a list that takes the bar as seriously as the kitchen. Gluten-free and vegan options are woven throughout the menu, not treated as afterthoughts.
