A Mediterranean Steakhouse With a Point of View

Aris sits in Austin's Clarksville neighborhood, where it has quickly established itself as one of the city's most distinctive dinner destinations. The concept is clear from the start: a modern Mediterranean steakhouse that takes both halves of that description seriously. USDA Prime beef is selected, butchered, and dry-aged in-house, then grilled over a wood fire for a smoky depth of flavor. Alongside those prime cuts, the menu reaches across the Mediterranean for vibrant seafood, crudo, and vegetable-driven plates — a range that earned the restaurant Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence in 2025, a recognition reserved for wine programs of exceptional breadth and quality.

The People and the Place

Aris is the work of Sof Hospitality, the acclaimed group behind Doris Metropolitan, Hamsa, Badolina, and Októ. Executive chef Hai Avnaim leads the kitchen, bringing a refined balance of technique and tradition to every plate. The room itself was designed exclusively for Austin: sleek interiors, open kitchen views, and a lively bar that keeps the energy warm without tipping into noise. It's a space built for evenings that linger.

What's on the Table

The menu moves from a raw bar and appetizers through mains and steaks to a considered selection of sides. Happy hour runs daily from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., with cocktail specials and featured bites — including an octopus skewer and tenderloin skewer — available at the bar, in the dining room, or on the patio.

The wine program is the other pillar of the Aris experience. The list draws from renowned regions worldwide, with bold structured reds, crisp whites, and elegant rosés, and places a deliberate spotlight on Middle Eastern producers — a thread that ties the Mediterranean identity of the food to the glass. That depth and curation is precisely what Wine Spectator recognized.

Private Dining and Events

For groups, Aris offers a private dining room for up to 20 guests, with a prix-fixe format available for parties of 12 or more. Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and curated wines make it a strong choice for celebrations or corporate gatherings that call for something more considered than the ordinary.
