The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A King Street Institution Since 1979

On a stretch of Old Town Alexandria that has seen restaurants come and go, Landini Brothers has held its place at 115 King Street for over four decades. Hosts Franco and Noe Landini have built something that regulars, locals, tourists, and business travelers all claim as their own — a room where the cooking is rooted in traditional Tuscan style and the service is taken seriously enough to feel like a point of pride rather than a transaction.

The Man Behind the Kitchen

The restaurant's continuity owes much to Executive Chef Rigoberto Ramos, who has run the kitchen since 1985. He arrived in America from El Salvador at 22, started as a dishwasher in a pizzeria, worked his way up to cook, and joined Landini Brothers in 1979 — before he even held the title. His philosophy is straightforwardly Italian: let a few quality ingredients speak for themselves, trust harmony over complexity. That restraint shows in dishes like Piccatine al Limone — thinly sliced milk-fed veal sautéed in butter, fresh lemon, and white wine — or Scampi all'Aglio, fresh jumbo Gulf shrimp dusted with flour and finished with garlic, white wine, and lemon. Braised Certified Angus Beef short ribs over mushroom risotto and a rotating fresh catch of the day round out a menu that moves between the classic and the seasonal without straying far from Tuscany.

A Wine Program Worth the Recognition

The cellar is a serious undertaking. Landini Brothers offers more than 30 wines by the glass and over 400 bottles, built almost entirely around Italian and American producers. An in-house certified sommelier curates the list, balancing the indigenous Italian varietals — Sangiovese, Vermentino, Brunello di Montalcino — with emerging selections and a rotating sommelier's highlight section. Wines made exclusively for the restaurant under the Vini della Casa label, including a Bacci Brunello and a Metodo Classico sparkling wine, give the program a distinctive identity. That depth earned Landini Brothers a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, a recognition that reflects the program's breadth and consistency.

The Room and the Occasion

The dress code is business casual — sleeveless shirts and jerseys are not permitted — which signals the tone without being stiff about it. The space handles intimate dinners and corporate functions with equal ease, and the private events program extends to weddings and off-site catering. For larger gatherings, the Italian cuisine translates well to banquet format, with catering menus built around the same Certified Angus Beef and locally raised organic chicken that appear on the regular menu.

What Landini Brothers offers is not novelty. It is the kind of place that earns its reputation by doing the same things well, year after year — and after more than four decades on King Street, that consistency is the story.
