Wood-Fired Sourdough in South London

Bravi Ragazzi sits on Sunnyhill Road in Streatham, quietly doing something that earns serious attention: making Naples-inspired sourdough pizza the right way. The restaurant earned a slice from Gambero Rosso in 2025 – the Italian food bible's recognition that this corner of SW16 is producing pizza worth seeking out.

The project is led by Chef Fernando, whose approach is straightforward and uncompromising: wood-fired dough, quality toppings, and a menu that reads like a tour through the Italian regions without ever feeling like a theme park.

The Pizza

The menu spans classics and specials with equal confidence. Among the tomato-based pizzas, the Margherita and the fiery 'Nduja sit alongside a Napoli and a Capricciosa. The white pizzas – those without tomato – include a Salsiccia e friarielli and a Quattro formaggi that speaks for itself. The specials push further: a Truffle, mushroom and burrata pizza; a Zucca pancetta e 'nduja; a Genovese pizza; and a Mortazza that has become something of a signature. Pizza fritta and two calzone options round out a list that rewards repeat visits.

All pizzas can be made with vegan mozzarella, and a gluten-free base is available for a small supplement.

Beyond the Pizza

Starters are properly Italian in spirit – aubergine parmigiana, burrata salad with cherry tomatoes, arancini in both bolognese and truffle-vegetarian versions, and a tagliere of cured meats and cheeses. Dessert keeps faith with the south: babbà rum and tiramisù, plus a daily special.

The drinks list leans into the occasion. A spritz menu – Aperol, Limoncello, Campari, Passion, and a Maradona spritz – sets the tone, backed by Italian beers including Ichnusa and Menabrea on bottle, and Moretti on draft. Wines cover Chianti, Aglianico, Falanghina, Pinot grigio, and Prosecco by glass or bottle.

The Feel

Bravi Ragazzi works equally well as a dine-in neighbourhood spot, a takeaway stop, or a delivery order through Deliveroo. The room welcomes families; the food rewards anyone who takes their Naples-inspired pizza seriously. Gambero Rosso's recognition confirms what locals in Streatham have known for a while.
