Amelie Restaurant

Provençal-inspired French and Mediterranean cuisine on Motcomb Street, Belgravia. Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence 2025.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

On a pedestrianised stretch of Motcomb Street in the heart of Belgravia, Amélie occupies the ground and first floors of the Pantechnicon building with a quietly confident sense of place. The concept is "Provençal chic" — French cuisine drawn from the sun-drenched flavours of the south, balanced with Mediterranean influences and a modern sensibility that keeps things from feeling museum-like.

Two Rooms, Two Moods

The first-floor dining room is the more formal proposition: an opulent but comfortable space where timeless French classics are reimagined with a refined touch. Downstairs, the ground-floor bar spills out onto the Motcomb Street terrace — al fresco seating on a car-free road, ideal for small plates, a glass of rosé, and watching Belgravia go about its day. The two spaces share a kitchen and a philosophy, but offer genuinely different rhythms.

What's on the Plate

The menu reads like a confident tour of French and Mediterranean cooking. Starters include escargots with garlic butter, a Salade Niçoise, grilled octopus with ratte potato, and a yellowtail carpaccio with citrus. Among the mains, a whole grilled sea bass, Dover sole with champagne sauce and caviar, and half roasted chicken with Vin Jaune sauce sit alongside pasta dishes — truffle paccheri, orzo with crab — that nod to the Mediterranean without losing the French thread. For lunch, the kitchen also runs a set menu and a bar menu that takes in a croque-monsieur and Amélie's own beef burger alongside the more composed dishes.

The wine list earned Amélie the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025 — recognition that reflects the care taken in building a cellar that pairs seriously with this style of cooking, from Provençal rosés through to classic French bottles.

The Occasion

Amélie works across the day: a set lunch for a quick, refined midday break; a leisurely Sunday lunch framed around "slow French living"; dinner in the first-floor restaurant for something more celebratory. Private dining and group events are also catered for. The address — a short walk from Knightsbridge and Sloane Square tube stations — makes it one of the more accessible fine-dining destinations in SW1.
