A Love Story Named After a Grandmother

Luigia takes its name from the founder's grandmother — a detail that tells you everything about what this restaurant stands for. Born in Geneva in 2010, the concept is built on family, tradition, and an uncompromising respect for Italian ingredients and recipes handed down through generations. The Dubai outpost, set on the ground floor of the Rixos Premium Dubai on The Walk at JBR, carries that same spirit to the Arabian Gulf.

Pizza as a Craft, Not a Convenience

Pizza is, unashamedly, the heart of Luigia. The dough is stretched by hand and left to rest and rise for 72 hours, producing a result that is soft, light, and unmistakably Italian. More than 60 variations are crafted by the restaurant's Master Pizzaioli, each built from carefully sourced, top-quality ingredients. One standout is the Stromboli — a tomato-based pizza with roasted peppers, spicy sausage, and Grana Padano made from whole cow's milk in the village of Agerola, Naples: firm yet creamy, stretchy without being rubbery.

The calzone arrives perfectly blistered and generously filled. The pasta, equally, draws praise for its rich, full-flavoured sauces and substantial portions. Great Italian cooking, as Luigia puts it, begins with exceptional ingredients — and the kitchen does not cut corners.

For five consecutive years, Gambero Rosso has awarded Luigia its coveted Tre Spicchi distinction in the world ranking of top Italian restaurants — a rare and consistent mark of quality for an Italian pizza restaurant operating outside Italy. It is the kind of recognition that confirms what regulars already know: this is not a casual approximation of Italian food, but the genuine article.

An Atmosphere All Its Own

The space makes no pretence of being a quiet trattoria. Double-height ceilings, heavy red window drapes, and theatrical lighting create an atmosphere that is loud, lively, and deliberately theatrical — a room built for celebration. Contemporary décor meets traditional Italian warmth, making it equally suited to a family lunch, a dinner with friends, or a private event.
