A Restaurant Built Around the River

Veranda on the River sits in Navodnytsky Park, right on the banks of the Dnieper, in the historical heart of Kyiv. The setting is the foundation of everything here: the main dining room on the first floor, a laid-back lounge on the second where time slows to a more leisurely pace, and a rooftop terrace that opens up a sweeping panorama across the entire city. Three distinct spaces, one continuous view of the water.

The Kitchen and the Cellar

Executive chef Sergiy Bashynskiy shapes the rhythm of the week as much as the menu. On Fridays he takes to the stage to break down a fresh whole tuna — a piece of theatre that signals the kitchen's commitment to quality product. Sundays bring a family-style pilaf cooked to his own family recipe, drawing regulars back week after week. Thursday is dedicated to Black Sea fish, with dishes drawn from a dedicated coastal menu. The range moves fluently between European and Asian cooking, and a separate Asian menu sits alongside the main one — reflecting a kitchen comfortable in both traditions.

The wine program earned Veranda on the River a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025, one of the guide's most respected tiers of recognition. Head sommelier Oleksiy Oleksiyenko leads that side of the house, presenting and pouring selections for guests every Monday — making wine education a standing weekly event rather than an afterthought.

Head bartender Artem Synehub brings the same craft to the bar, offering guests a signature cocktail every Tuesday.

Seven Days of Reasons to Return

The weekly calendar is deliberate. Sweet Wednesdays feature a complimentary dessert from Chef Bashynskiy. Friday and Saturday evenings fill with live music — professional vocalists and a grand piano delivering a repertoire of world hits. Weekends more broadly bring resident performers: vocalists, musicians, dancers, and DJs who keep the atmosphere moving without tipping into excess.

The result is a restaurant that works equally well for a long weekday lunch, a private banquet, or a weekend evening with European and Asian dishes, a well-chosen bottle, and the Dnieper stretching out below.
