The story
What started as a pizza truck in 2015 has grown into one of Asia's most decorated pizzerias. Pizza Massilia, based in Bangkok's Ruamrudee neighbourhood, has held the title of Thailand's Best Pizzeria every year from 2021 to 2025, ranks among the Top 4 Pizzerias in Asia, and has been placed 22nd Best Pizzeria in the World. The prestigious Gambero Rosso 2025 guide counts it among the best pizzerias worldwide — recognition that places this Bangkok address firmly on the global pizza map.
The foundation of everything at Massilia is a 72-hour naturally leavened dough, wood-fired to order and built with DOP-certified ingredients flown in from Italy. The approach is uncompromising: San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella di Agerola, Parmigiano Reggiano aged 24 months, and regional Italian cold cuts appear throughout the menu, used with the same care you'd expect from a serious Italian kitchen.
The pizza that earned Massilia the Latteria Sorrentina Pizza of the Year 2025 award is the Norma Not Normal — fior di latte mozzarella, eggplant purée, crispy deep-fried eggplant, sundried tomatoes, aged ricotta, basil, and extra virgin olive oil. It's vegetarian, and it's a statement. Beyond the signature pies, the menu stretches into indulgent territory: a Black Truffle Calzone with freshly shaved seasonal truffle, a Burrata & Culatello pizza built around cold-cut culatello from Zibello, and a Chorizo de Bellota option for those who want something with heat and depth.
The Ruamrudee flagship is a full Italian restaurant, with a menu that moves through antipasti, fresh handmade pastas, and salads with genuine attention to sourcing. Suppli with Carnaroli rice and fior di latte, Frittata Carbonara with pecorino Romano and Italian pancetta, house-made agnolotti stuffed with sausage and ricotta, Lobster Angel Hair with whole Canadian lobster — the kitchen clearly has range. Burrata arrives from Puglia; cherry tomatoes come from Chiang Mai organic farms. The regional Italian flavours are real, not approximate.
Alongside the sit-down restaurant, the Massilia Pizza Truck operates from Sukhumvit 49, bringing the same wood-fired Neapolitan pizza to a more casual outdoor setting. The truck is also available for catering events across Bangkok and Thailand, with portable ovens and a TukTuk setup that can bring fresh pizza on-site to any venue.
For anyone serious about Neapolitan pizza in Southeast Asia, Massilia is the benchmark.
