Da Michele

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele brings its legendary 1870 Neapolitan pizza recipe to Bangkok's Siam Paragon, recognized by Gambero Rosso 2026.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Legend from Naples, Now in Bangkok

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele is not a name that needs much introduction in the world of pizza. The Condurro family's legacy began in Naples in 1870, and the original recipe that Michele Condurro perfected — drawing on techniques he learned from the famed dough masters of Torre Annunziata — has traveled intact to the fifth floor of Siam Paragon. That continuity is the point. Nothing has been adapted for trend or convenience; the Neapolitan pizza served here follows the same time-honoured methods as in Naples.

The Story Behind the Dough

Michele opened his first pizzeria in 1906, near what is now Ascalesi Hospital in Naples. A move in 1930 brought the shop to Via Cesare Sersale, a street since reverently dubbed "the sacred temple of pizza" by writers and pizza connoisseurs alike. His son Antonio, himself a master pizzaiolo, described Michele as "an icon of the art of pizza." Another son, Luigi, simply called him a true "pizza fanatic." That devotion to craft is the thread running through every generation — and every location.

Ingredients That Don't Compromise

Every key ingredient at Da Michele Bangkok comes from Campania. The flour, the fior di latte, the extra-virgin olive oil — all sourced from small producers working within their designated regional zones in southern Italy. This isn't marketing shorthand for "Italian-inspired"; it is a deliberate preservation of provenance that delivers what the restaurant calls "the unmistakable taste of Naples." Gambero Rosso, the authoritative Italian food guide, awarded Da Michele Bangkok a slice in its 2026 edition — a recognition that confirms the kitchen's fidelity to the original.

Where to Find It

The Bangkok outpost sits in the Nextopia zone on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon, a setting that contrasts sharply with the narrow street-level trattoria of the Naples original — but the pizza on the plate tells the same story. Julia Roberts famously said of Da Michele, "I'm having a relationship with this pizza" during the filming of Eat Pray Love, and the Bangkok kitchen gives little reason to feel differently. Walk-ins are welcome, and the room is open daily from 11 AM.
