Morton's, The Steakhouse

Morton's The Steakhouse in Taipei brings USDA prime-aged beef, fresh seafood, and a Wine Spectator-awarded list to the 45th floor of the city.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Chicago Institution, High Above Taipei

Morton's The Steakhouse traces its origins to a single, decisive moment: co-founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch, both working at the Playboy Club in Montreal, were brought together by a hamburger so good that Arnie burst into the kitchen demanding to know who cooked it. That burger became the stuff of legend — the "Million-Dollar Hamburger" — and the partnership it sparked led to the opening of the first Morton's on State Street in Chicago in 1978. Today, the brand spans more than 65 locations worldwide, and Taipei is among its most striking addresses: the 45th floor of No. 68, Section 5, placing the dining room well above the city skyline.

The Steakhouse Standard

The philosophy that drove Morton's from day one — quality, consistency, genuine hospitality — remains unchanged. The kitchen works exclusively with USDA prime-aged beef, sourced from the same suppliers Morton's has used since the beginning. Only the top 2% of beef available in the United States makes the cut, and if it doesn't meet Morton's standards, it doesn't reach the plate. Beyond the steakhouse classics, the menu extends to fresh seafood: Chilean sea bass, oysters on the half shell, colossal shrimp, and red king crab legs, alongside seasonal additions such as Prime Bavette Steak Frites, Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, and Oysters Rockefeller.

Wine, Private Dining, and the Bar

The wine program at Morton's Taipei holds the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, a recognition that reflects a list of more than 300 labels spanning exclusive vintages, sommelier selections, and cult favorites. Private wine lockers are available on-site, and the General Manager and sommelier are on hand to guide pairings. For those who prefer cocktails, Bar 12-21 offers hand-crafted classics alongside chef-selected bar bites. Private dining rooms accommodate everything from intimate business dinners to larger celebrations, with catering options available as well — making this steakhouse a practical choice for events as much as a destination for a well-earned meal.
