Kafé de Luxe occupies a wooden house from the 1700s on Sandgärdsgatan, just steps from Växjö's railway station. The building once belonged to Snus-Lundgren, and its age shows in the best possible way: heavy wine-red velvet curtains frame the windows, the interior flirts with Swedish sixties style and French boudoir, and the whole place feels like a deliberate counterpoint to the city's more angular concrete surroundings. The White Guide recognised it at Fine level in 2026, describing it as an oasis that offers both dining and coffee – and lets you loose when the night gets late.

What Brings People Here

The place runs on four pillars, as the team puts it: heartfelt cooking, cake baking, a serious drinking culture, and live music. Events span indie rock concerts, DJ nights and club evenings with free entry on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue has hosted acts touring with names like Soundtrack of Our Lives and Graveyard, and the calendar turns over constantly – from throwback hip-hop and R&B nights to local bands making their mark.

Cocktail workshops are available for those who want to go deeper into the bar side of things, and a loyalty card programme rewards regulars. The space the team calls "Gillestugan" – the living room – anchors the social life of the venue, where music is chosen with obvious care and eclecticism.

Part of Something Larger

Kafé de Luxe sits at the centre of a small family of Växjö establishments. In summer, it connects to Ekobacken & Picknick de Luxe, where locally grown vegetables and cool drinks are served in an urban garden setting. Two blocks away stands Villa de Luxe with its adjoining beer garden. The same spirit runs through all of them: good food, good drink, and a genuine investment in making life a little more enjoyable than it already is – for the team as much as for the guests.
