The story
Walk along the river past the wooden burgher houses of Trosa, reach the picturesque harbour, and you will find Fina Fisken behind its red fence. The restaurant has been part of this small Swedish coastal town's fabric since 1974 — long enough to earn the word "institution" without irony. Wide floorboards, rustic wood, and large windows overlooking the greenery set the tone inside, while the garden bar and pergola draw guests out whenever the sun cooperates. White Guide recognised the place at Fine level in 2026, noting that the service staff and bartenders "chat and joke, perfectly matching the relaxed summer tavern vibe" — which is exactly the atmosphere the restaurant aims for.
The kitchen builds its menus around fish and seafood as a natural foundation, with everything else shaped by what the season offers. Menus change several times a year, and the restaurant is deliberate about sourcing from suppliers who share a sustainable philosophy. The result is Swedish cooking that feels grounded rather than trend-chasing — crafted with care and served by a team that takes personal hospitality seriously.
The season runs from Easter weekend, when the dining rooms also host an art exhibition by Bengt-Erik Bengtsson, through a busy summer of full-week opening, and into autumn weekends. During Advent, the kitchen turns to Havets Julbord — a seafood-focused Christmas table that has become a recurring favourite.
Fina Fisken is considerably more than a restaurant. Sommelier Anton Fröidstedt and head chef Louis de Caunes lead the Wine & Dine evenings through autumn and winter — themed dinners pairing at least five quality wines with a secret menu, exploring everything from Spanish whites to Sörmland wild game. Thursday evenings in July bring Fina Fisken Sessions, an intimate live-music concept in the summer garden. The banqueting floor handles weddings, corporate events, and private parties throughout the year, and a catering operation extends the kitchen's reach further still.
Whether you come for a long lunch in the pergola, a wine dinner on a winter Friday, or a summer concert under open skies, Fina Fisken delivers the kind of Swedish hospitality that is unhurried, personal, and rooted in place.
