The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Restaurant Built Around Themes, Not Traditions

Woodstockholm began as something unlikely — a furniture shop and a kitchen in a garage in Svedmyra — before finding its permanent home in a former pizzeria on Mosebacke Torg in Södermalm. Ten years on, it has grown into one of Stockholm's more distinctive dining addresses, earning a "Very fine level" recognition from the White Guide and publishing a full cookbook to mark the anniversary.

The philosophy here is stated plainly: flavors and meetings created without regard to traditional boundaries, in a warm, playful, and beautiful environment. Swedish cooking is the backbone, but the kitchen doesn't treat that as a constraint.

The Grand Voyage and the Art of the Theme

What sets Woodstockholm apart is its commitment to the themed menu. Rather than a static offering, the kitchen builds each season's dishes around a single destination or idea — the current chapter being The Grand Voyage: Provence, following a previous stint in San Sebastián. The conceit is affectionate and genuinely curious: what does Provence taste like? Aioli, tapenade, bouillabaisse, the colours of the French Riviera — filtered through a Stockholm sensibility and delivered with the restaurant's characteristic humor (the menu notes cheerfully: "Don't wait Toulon or you'll Nice out").

Dishes shift as the theme evolves, so no two visits across a season are identical.

The wine list leans toward smaller producers with strong sustainability standards, and the alcohol-free range is described as extensive and continuously developing. Vegetarian food, the restaurant notes, is not an option — it is a natural part of every menu.

The Private Dining Room

Connected to the main bistro through a secret passage, Woodstockholm's private dining room occupies what was once a furniture store. Designed by the studio Uglycute, with handmade furnishings created specifically for the space, it offers a seven-course tasting menu prepared by a dedicated chef for the evening, with wine pairings selected by the sommeliers. Up to fourteen guests can book the room — an unusually intimate format for a fine dining experience in the city.

Ten Years In

The tenth anniversary prompted a book — WOODSTOCKHOLM — released with Aska publishing, collecting over 40 recipes alongside the story of how the restaurant came to be and portraits of everyone who has worked there. It is, as the publisher puts it, a book about running a restaurant with humor, joy, and a sense of community. That framing captures something true about the place itself.
