The story
Sardin sits in the middle of Råsunda, in a space that once housed a burger restaurant, now transformed into something airy, warm, and decorated in every shade of the sea. The name nods to the silver-coloured herring shack of collective memory, but what arrives on the table is firmly Mediterranean – sun-drenched, unfussy, and genuinely good.
The kitchen draws from a broad southern European palette. A pan con tomate evokes Spain at its most direct and satisfying. A terrine of farm-raised pork carries the unhurried spirit of the French countryside. Fried nduja croquettes bring an Italian punch. Pulpo with chimichurri rojo has become a menu staple, and the burrata with tomato and anchoa is, by the restaurant's own description, a hard-to-beat combination. Marinated herring – Sardin's own interpretation of the Swedish classic – rounds out a menu that moves confidently between traditions without losing its footing.
The dishes are consistently rustic and genuine, built on clean flavours rather than elaborate technique. That honesty extends to the drink list: orange wine sits alongside more classic southern European bottles, and the selection stays concise and purposeful.
White Guide awarded Sardin a Fine level distinction for 2026, noting the restaurant's ability to deliver pure, rustic flavours with a family-like atmosphere. The review singled out the tiramisu – served nonchalantly on a small, worn plate, dusted with cocoa – as simple and absolutely perfect. It is the kind of detail that says everything about what Sardin is after.
The open kitchen keeps the room connected to the cooking, and the overall feeling is genuinely convivial rather than performatively casual.
When the warmer months arrive, the Mediterranean mood intensifies. Sardin opens the Sardine Box at Råsunda Square – a format built around small plates, snacks, and wine taken outdoors. It is the same kitchen logic applied to a square in the sun, and it works just as well.
Sardin describes itself as a modern neighbourhood restaurant with a seasonal menu and classic wines. That description is accurate, and also slightly undersells it.
