A Stockholm Icon Reimagined

Nestled across three storeys of a beautifully restored 19th-century building in Stockholm's Norrmalm district, Frantzén is far more than a restaurant — it is a journey. Guests arrive in one room and are guided through the elegant multi-storey townhouse, discovering each course as they meander through the space. It is an experience that has made Frantzén one of the first globally renowned restaurants to pioneer truly immersive fine dining.

The story began with humbler origins: a bijou dining room in Stockholm's old town, co-founded in 2008 as Frantzén/Lindeberg. After closing in 2016, the restaurant relocated and reopened in 2017 in its current form — and has been making impressive progress ever since.

The Chef Behind the Vision

Björn Frantzén is a singular figure in the culinary world. A former professional footballer, he first learned his craft in the Swedish army before honing his skills at storied kitchens including Chez Nico in London and Arpège in Paris. That breadth of experience is palpable in every dish that leaves his kitchen.

His ambition extends well beyond Stockholm. In 2025, his Dubai restaurant FZN earned its third Michelin Star, making Björn Frantzén the only individual in the world to simultaneously hold three tri-starred restaurants — a landmark achievement by any measure.

Nordic Cuisine with an Asian Soul

At the heart of Frantzén is a distinctive culinary philosophy: Nordic cuisine that marries classical and modern techniques rooted in local Scandinavian tradition with carefully considered Asian influences. The result is a menu unlike any other — just one tasting menu is offered at both lunch and dinner, changing to reflect the finest seasonal ingredients.

Expect dishes such as scallop with chicken dashi, vin jaune and lardo; chawanmushi of aged pork broth, razor clams and ramson; white asparagus with coconut, lemongrass and pistachio; and grilled pineapple paired with milky oolong, sweet potato and mezcal. Each plate is at once deeply Nordic in spirit and thrillingly global in execution.

World Recognition

Frantzén's place on the world stage is beyond question. The restaurant has featured continuously in The World's 50 Best Restaurants, reaching as high as No. 6 in 2021 and holding a prestigious position every year since — including No. 38 in 2025. Few restaurants anywhere can claim such sustained recognition at the very summit of global fine dining.
