Celebrated table

Bobergs på Hamngården

A harbourside restaurant in Brantevik where freshly caught Baltic seafood meets refined Swedish cuisine, awarded by the White Guide 2026.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Where the Sea Meets the Table

In the small southern harbour of Brantevik, just outside Simrishamn, Bobergs på Hamngården occupies a property with deep roots in the local fishing community. The older timber-framed wing at the corner of the courtyard once served as a place where freshly caught and smoked fish were sold to villagers — a history that feels very much alive in the kitchen today.

Old-fashioned roses and lavender draw guests into the courtyard, where floral scents and salt air meet in a combination that sets the tone for what follows. Inside, a large panoramic window frames the Baltic, armchairs and a fireplace make autumn evenings genuinely cosy, and on warm summer nights the outdoor terrace becomes the obvious place to be — even if the sun sets behind Hamngården's white two-storey houses rather than over the water.

Emil's Kitchen

The kitchen is led by Emil, whose name graces the flagship tasting menu. Emils smakresa is an extended experience priced at 1 800 SEK, while the more concise Lilla menyn — four courses plus snacks, bread and butter — offers a focused introduction at 950 SEK.

The snacks alone signal the kitchen's sensibility: raw prawns with dill and horseradish, bleak roe on chicken skin with fresh cheese, Scanian cockerel liver with raspberry and elderflower. Courses that follow draw on the surrounding coastline and farmland — scallop with horseradish and yuzu, halibut with sea kale and blue mussel, lamb with green asparagus and tomato — before finishing with strawberry and elderflower. It is Swedish cuisine grounded in local produce, handled with precision and without pretension.

A thoughtfully assembled wine list accompanies both menus, with pairing packages ranging from the sommelier's selection to a hybrid wine-and-non-alcoholic option.

Recognition Well Earned

The White Guide awarded Bobergs på Hamngården its Very Fine Level distinction for 2026, a reflection of cooking that is quietly ambitious and a setting that is genuinely hard to replicate. Breakfast is also served, with the morning sun glittering over the Baltic as a backdrop — a detail that says something about the place as a whole.

Old-fashioned roses and lavender draw you onto the courtyard in front of Hamngården in Brantevik’s southern harbor, where the symphony of floral scents collides with the distinct smell of the sea—a combination that is not entirely unpleasant. The dining room features a large panoramic window overlooking the water and a cozy sitting area with armchairs—and a fireplace in the autumn. Yet on a warm summer evening, meals are especially enjoyable on the outdoor terrace, even though the sun does not set over the Baltic Sea but behind Hamngården’s white two‑story houses. In the much older timber‑framed wing at the corner, freshly caught and smoked fish were once sold to the villagers.
