The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A restaurant that puts Piteå on the map

Perched on the 13th floor of Kust Hotell along Piteå's waterfront, Restaurang Tage makes a case that northern Sweden belongs at the top of the country's restaurant conversation. The views stretch across forests, heights, and sea — a majestic 360-degree panorama that sets the stage before a single dish arrives. One floor above, Bar Tage hovers even higher. The space itself carries a distinct character: large photographs by photographer Andreas Lundberg portray the entrepreneur Tage — a man of many talents — and lend the room an atmosphere that flirts, unexpectedly and charmingly, with the spirit of the American oil fields.

White Guide recognized Restaurang Tage at its "Very fine level" in 2026, describing it as "locally rooted, globally connected" — a phrase that captures the kitchen's philosophy precisely.

The kitchen: seasonal, grilled, uncompromising on sourcing

The approach here is straightforward by design. The menu is built around the best available ingredients — carefully chosen local and global produce — cooked predominantly on the restaurant's grill. It updates four times a year and is punctuated by seasonal guest appearances. Drinks come from producers the team considers among the world's best.

Local identity runs deep through the menu. Kalixlöjrom — the celebrated vendace roe from Bröderna Persson — appears on buttered toast with soured cream, red onion, and chives, available by the small or generous portion. Gnocchi is made from almond potatoes and finished with a cheese cream from Mathantverket Vuollerim, a producer in the Norrbotten hinterland. The signature "Norrbotten" tasting menu takes this further: grilled reindeer tenderloin with smoked side pork from Vindeln, lingonberry pearls, and fried reindeer lichen — a dish that reads like the landscape on a plate.

From the meat cabinet, dry-aged beef is a recurring focus — entrecôte, tenderloin, and a whole porterhouse on the bone, the latter ideal for sharing. A cognac-flambéed, pepper-rolled beef tenderloin seasoned with the kitchen's own pepper blend speaks to a confident, classical sensibility. For something from the sea, whole-roasted turbot arrives with garlic-sautéed mussels, prawns, grated horseradish, and brown butter.

Experience and service as a core ingredient

The team behind Restaurang Tage — in the kitchen, the bar, and on the floor — is described as experienced and award-winning, and the restaurant treats service as one of the most important ingredients of any good meal. For larger groups of ten or more, the kitchen asks guests to pre-order, a practical gesture that keeps the experience smooth for everyone.

The result is a fine dining destination that earns its recognition not through spectacle alone, but through the consistency of a kitchen that knows exactly what it wants to be.

White Guide — Very fine level

Locally rooted, globally connected— with its roots in the local and its eyes on the global, restaurant Tage takes off 53 meters into the air. A few meters above, Bar Tage also hovers. It offers a majestic 360-degree view of Piteå’s forests, heights, and sea. Photographer Andreas Lundberg has portrayed the entrepreneur Tage himself with many strings on his lyre. Large pictures greet you throughout the restaurant, where thoughts may drift to the oil fields in the USA—to Texas, Dallas, and J.R. Ewing.
