The story
Scandwich started life as a humble stall inside Mitt Möllan, Malmö's beloved indoor market. The team behind it — known as the bread trio Lind — went on to run Scandwine, a natural-wine bar at Davidshallstorg, before returning to their sandwich roots with a proper sit-down address on Kristianstadsgatan, a short walk from that same square. The new space is a meaningful step up in both size and ambition.
Walk in and the atmosphere lands immediately: taped-up posters, board games stacked on shelves, porcelain cats, and hand-crafted pine furniture. It has the easy, unforced feel of a youth centre that happens to take its food seriously. Near the ceiling, almost nonchalantly, sits a trophy from a victory at Mack-SM — Sweden's sandwich championship — a few metres from a small play corner that makes the space genuinely welcoming for families. There is nothing performative about any of it.
The White Guide's 2026 recommendation singles out Scandwich Möllan as a substantial upgrade on what came before, and the Mack-SM win confirms that the kitchen's craft is real. The focus is sandwiches, executed with the kind of attention that earns competition trophies and critical recognition in the same breath. The current menu is updated regularly and shared via the restaurant's Instagram, keeping things seasonal and responsive rather than fixed.
Beyond dine-in, Scandwich handles catering, takeaway, and meeting sandwiches — a practical range that reflects how deeply the place has embedded itself in the neighbourhood. Vegetarian options are part of the offering, and the kid-friendly setup means it works for a solo lunch or a table of mixed company alike.
