The story
Brasserie Grand Italian occupies the 25th floor of Clarion Hotel Malmö Live, bringing a modern, city-scaled take on Italian cuisine to Skåne. The White Guide recognised it at Fine level in 2026, noting how the restaurant embodies a confident, metropolitan Italian dining wave that had already taken hold in Stockholm and Gothenburg before arriving in southern Sweden. The setting — sweeping views over Malmö, a magnificent chandelier anchoring the bar, a wood-fired pizza oven glowing at the heart of the room — makes the ambition clear from the moment you step in.
The kitchen works from a straightforward principle: Italian cuisine is about simplicity and the natural flavour of quality ingredients. The menu moves through the traditional Italian structure — hot and cold antipasti, primi piatti, secondi of grilled meats and seafood — with homemade pastas as a particular point of pride. Artisan pizzas, shaped and baked in the centrepiece oven, have their own dedicated section. Inspiration runs from classic to contemporary, comfort to unexpected twists, without losing sight of what makes Italian food compelling in the first place.
The wine list draws exclusively from Italian producers, with a preference for large-format bottles placed at the table to share alongside antipasti. For those who want to take something home, a deli counter stocks a curated selection of ingredients, sauces and Italian provisions.
The bar operates as a piazza of sorts — lively, welcoming, open from the afternoon into the late evening. Classic Italian aperitivo culture is the reference point: Negroni, Bellini and Aperol Spritz sit alongside the house's own signature cocktails and local interpretations. Craft cocktails are balanced to complement the food rather than compete with it, and the bar stays open well after the kitchen closes.
For larger groups, a dedicated party menu is available for parties of eight or more, and the CiaoCation package combines dinner with an overnight stay at Clarion Malmö Live for those who want to make a full evening of it.
