Celebrated table

Jernbruket

A converted warehouse by the Floda station, Jernbruket serves a five-course menu rooted in local organic produce, natural wine, and open-fire cooking.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A warehouse, a wood grill, and a train ride from the city

Thirty minutes from Gothenburg by train, in the small town of Floda on the shores of Sävelången, sits Jernbruket — a former warehouse transformed into one of the region's most quietly compelling restaurants. Step through the door and the bar greets you immediately, as does the wood grill that anchors the kitchen's approach. A rustic staircase leads upward to a dining room with generous ceiling height, wooden tables and benches softened with sheepskin — a space that feels unhurried and genuinely lived-in.

Rooted in the neighboring land

The five-course menu is presented by restaurant manager and co-owner Bella Thorogood, whose warmth for the ingredients she describes is evident. Much of what arrives at the table comes from close by: organic vegetables from Liaberg farm, barely ten miles away, find their way onto the grill and into each course. The wine list leans natural, and the beer is local and carefully brewed — a coherent philosophy that runs from the kitchen through to the glass.

Who comes, and why

Floda families, groups celebrating a birthday, and Gothenburg residents making a deliberate evening of the train ride all share the wooden benches here. The mix speaks to something Jernbruket does well: it holds together as a neighborhood restaurant and as a destination worth traveling for. That balance earned it recognition at the White Guide 2026 at a "Very Fine Level" — an acknowledgment that the cooking and the experience consistently deliver.

The wood grill, the sheepskin-draped benches, the organic vegetables from down the road — at Jernbruket, the details add up to something more than the sum of their parts.

White Guide — Very fine level

A short half‑hour train ride from Gothenburg lies Floda. Right next to the station, at Sävelången and housed in an old warehouse, Jernbruket. The bar is found just inside the door, just like the wood grill where much of what is served makes a turn. A rustic staircase up gives a generous ceiling height, as do the wooden tables and benches, the latter softened with sheepskin. Floda families, traveling from the city, the celebrating group, take their seats. The five‑course menu is presented by restaurant manager and co‑owner Bella Thorogood, and most of what she speaks so warmly about comes from the neighboring area (the organic vegetables from Liaberg, barely ten miles away). It is equally understood that the wine is naturally made and the beer is local and carefully brewed.
