The story
At Valla farms, right beside Landskrona's historic citadel, a small mustard-yellow building does something unexpected: it hosts one of Sweden's most talked-about restaurant experiences. The building used to be a garage. Now, as you cross the wooden bridges leading to it, neon-purple light bleeds through the windows and a deep bass thump meets you before you even reach the door. White Guide awarded Smörtaxen its "Very fine level" recognition in 2026, describing it as a head-on clash between the old and the crazy — and that framing is entirely accurate.
Smörtaxen runs a single format: Taxen All-in. It is a set menu of 10 courses with drinks fully included, served across a single sitting that lasts at least four and a half hours. The evening opens in the hallway with a shot of halljög, moves through bubbles and snacks, then into a full dinner where guests choose their wine bottles and dishes arrive in sequence — dessert, sweet wine, a travel-themed finale, and coffee to close. The kitchen is described as tiny, the team behind the pass is Simon, Danne and Eric, and the last song of the night is played at full volume.
The current seasonal theme is "Swedes' travel destinations," with the menu leaning into that concept through details like airplane cocktails and carbonara-inspired snacks nodding to Italian football culture. It is specific, considered, and deliberately fun — the kind of place where board games on the table are encouraged alongside the food.
Capacity is capped at 30 guests. Tables are released on set dates and sell out within minutes. There is no walk-in option, but a waitlist operates through the booking system. Groups of up to six can reserve normally; larger parties can charter the whole restaurant. The 16-and-over age policy reflects the atmosphere: this is an adult evening, loud by design, with old hip-hop and disco as the soundtrack.
Pricing for Taxen All-in runs from 1 850 SEK (non-alcoholic, weekday) to 2 450 SEK (with alcohol, Friday, Saturday or public holidays), with an optional Business Class wine upgrade available for those who want more classic bottles. The spring 2026 season runs from late February through mid-June.
