The story
Restaurang Strandpiren sits directly on the water at Djupestrand, about ten minutes' walk from central Hudiksvall. The position is the restaurant's defining feature: every table in the dining room looks out over the harbour and the city's wide skyline, and in summer the effect is amplified on what the restaurant describes as the city's largest outdoor terrace — 300 square metres and roughly 150 seats suspended above the small marina.
The restaurant is open year-round, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner across a space that holds around 100 guests indoors. That consistency, season after season, has made it one of Hudiksvall's most popular dining destinations.
White Guide, Scandinavia's respected restaurant guide, has recognised Strandpiren repeatedly as one of the best restaurants in Hälsingland. The guide's assessment points to exactly what regulars already know: the waterside setting is a genuine asset, the service is personal and well-judged, and guests are made to feel genuinely welcome. More than 1,000 reviews across platforms reinforce the same picture.
The day begins with a breakfast buffet — a popular option for both hotel guests and visitors. Lunch and dinner menus round out the offer, along with a children's menu that makes the restaurant a practical choice for families. The setting also lends itself naturally to private occasions; the restaurant is regularly used for weddings and corporate dinners.
The atmosphere is described as genuine rather than formal — a place with real character, shaped as much by its location on the water as by the people who work there.
