The story
Regio opened in the spring of 2020 on Drottninggatan in the northern part of Helsingborg, and has since built a loyal following of regulars who keep coming back for what the restaurant describes simply as food made "with love, joy and quality – just like in Italy." That straightforward ambition, consistently delivered, is what earned Regio a place in the White Guide.
White Guide puts it well: the quiet of the surrounding streets gives way the moment you step through the door. Inside, it is lively, buzzy and tight on space – much like a narrow Italian alley. Grabbing a pizza standing at the bar is apparently an experience in itself, while tables further in offer a slightly calmer setting where conversation flows without effort. Regulars describe the staff as charming, knowledgeable and genuinely warm – qualities that show up in review after review.
Italian cuisine is the focus here, with pizza and pasta at the heart of the menu. Guests single out the pizzas for their "surprising and different flavour combinations," and several reviewers call them the best in town. The pasta draws equal praise – one regular simply calls it "wonderful." A black kale salad and a chocolate cake have also earned their own mentions. Gluten-free pizza and pasta are available as standard, not as an afterthought.
One guest captured it neatly: "It really tasted like Italy." Another recommended the house red alongside the Il Tartufo pizza as a pairing not to miss. The portions are generous, and the consensus is that the quality justifies the price.
Regio also offers catering, bringing a piece of Italy to private homes and workplaces for any occasion or group size. Their sister café, Café Henry, handles student graduation catering separately.
For anyone looking for honest, convivial Italian cooking in Helsingborg, Regio delivers exactly what it promises – no more, no less, and that is precisely the point.
