A Former Washhouse on the Water

Where clothes were once laundered at the large dock of Nattviken, guests now gather to eat, drink, and take in one of the more striking waterfront views in northern Sweden. Brygghuset occupies two historic boathouses on the shore of Nattviken in Härnösand, and the setting does much of the talking — open water stretching out beyond white, airy interiors and large panoramic windows that make even a grey Swedish day worth sitting through.

The Space

The premises are bright and unfussy. When the weather cooperates, outdoor seating brings guests directly to the water's edge. When it doesn't, the panoramic windows ensure the view remains a constant presence from inside. The room manages to feel both relaxed and considered — the kind of place that works equally well for a weekday lunch, a family dinner, or a longer evening with locally brewed beer.

Brygghuset has earned recognition in the White Guide at Fine level, a distinction that reflects a genuine commitment to quality in a setting that could easily coast on atmosphere alone. The restaurant's own local beers are a draw in their own right, and the offer extends across lunch, dinner, catering, and takeaway — with vegetarian options and a welcome attitude toward families and groups.
