The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Smoke, Meat, and a Garage That Needs No Excuses

Det arroganta svinet sits inside a garage in one of Jordbro's larger industrial areas, and it makes absolutely no apologies for that. The setting is cramped, the tables and benches have a festival-hall frankness to them, and large metal trays piled with meat arrive without ceremony. None of that stops guests from travelling from every corner of the world to get here — a fact documented, quite literally, by the large map of visitor greetings hanging at the entrance.

The Man Behind the Smoke

Tommy Granström, originally from Umeå, has spent the better part of seven years in this garage chasing a single obsession: the perfect brisket. The house calls it bringan, and after sixteen hours on the smoker it emerges with the kind of depth that makes the drive to Haninge feel entirely reasonable. White Guide's 2026 recommendation puts it plainly — the mission has succeeded. The smoky BBQ aroma, the guide notes, has already spread well beyond the municipal border.

What to Expect

The atmosphere is convivial and unpretentious: long shared surfaces, the persistent perfume of woodsmoke, and a focus on meat that is absolute. There is no dress code implied by a garage, and none is needed. What Det arroganta svinet offers instead is seriousness of craft dressed in the most casual of rooms — a combination that has clearly resonated with a crowd far wider than the local industrial estate.

Krogen, located in a garage in one of Jordbro’s larger industrial areas, doesn’t have the best setting. It doesn’t need to. By now the smoky BBQ aroma has spread far beyond the municipal border, as evidenced by the large map with greetings from every corner of the world at the entrance. In the cramped garage environment, around tables and benches that create a festival atmosphere, large metal trays piled with meat are served. Behind the smoke stands Tommy Granström, a resident of Umeå who has devoted the past seven years to finding the perfect flavor in the garage’s signature dish, the bringan. And after 16 hours on the smoke, we can conclude that the mission has succeeded.
