The story
Wolfgang Vincafé opened at what could charitably be called the worst possible moment – just as the pandemic reached Sweden. That it not only survived but became what the White Guide calls "a safe institution" within Göteborg's moat speaks to something real about what Axel Schiller and Fredrik Berthagen have built here on Västra Hamngatan.
The two owners were previously known for running Fabrick, a warmly chaotic lunch restaurant at Lyckholms fabriker. Wolfgang is a more grown-up proposition. The French ideals are clearer and more deliberately expressed, the tone more classical. Beautiful hardwood panelling, ornate stucco work, and generous windows give the room a timeless elegance that feels neither stiff nor showy.
The kitchen leans into French cuisine with conviction – not as a nostalgic exercise, but as a genuine commitment to a tradition worth preserving. The result is a restaurant that rewards regulars and first-timers alike with consistency and care. White Guide's recognition in 2026 reflects what guests in Göteborg have known for a while: this is a place that does what it does without fuss, and does it well.
