Celebrated table

Mr P

Sharing plates with global flair, a creative bar, and a lively atmosphere right next to Gothenburg's Konstmuseum. Mr P is the whole city's living room.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

The whole city's neighbourhood spot

At Götaplatsen, steps from Gothenburg's Konstmuseum, Mr P has quietly become the kind of place an entire city claims as its own. The room is dim and the energy is alive — part neighbourhood haunt, part destination for anyone who takes food and drink seriously without wanting the formality that usually comes with it.

The restaurant describes its philosophy plainly: food should be good, fun to share, and feel just as natural on a Tuesday as a Friday evening. That means a menu built around sharing plates in small and medium portions rather than a conventional three-course structure — an invitation to order broadly, stay curious, and eat together.

Global influences, one table

The kitchen draws inspiration from the great international food cultures, always with a sense of play and a commitment to quality. In practice, that means moving fluidly between France, Italy, Asia and Spain within a single meal. White Guide, which recommended Mr P in 2026, captured it well: dishes are built on recognisable classic ingredients in an upgraded guise, with the red tongue fried and the pork side given an apple preparation that balances sweetness and acidity. A Pinot Grigio, they noted, works nicely with both.

The bar is treated with the same creative ambition as the kitchen — an easy place to linger over a spontaneous glass before or after dinner, or instead of one altogether.

Art on the walls, flavour on the plate

Mr P carries an artistic heritage in the most literal sense. Sharing a wall with the Gothenburg Museum of Art, the restaurant sits at the cultural heart of Götaplatsen, where the boundary between canvas and plate, between aesthetics and appetite, is deliberately blurred. The result is a space that feels considered without feeling precious — an unpretentious restaurant with a distinctly artistic sensibility.

Part of the Götaplatsgruppen, Mr P opens for dinner Tuesday through Friday and runs a Saturday lunch as well, making it one of the more versatile addresses on this corner of the city.

Slit dig ur Poseidons stillsamma famn and give the neighbor Mr. P a chance. Here the lighting is dim and the atmosphere lively. The food comes as sharing plates in small‑ and medium‑sized portions. The flavor influences are many; you’re whisked between France, Italy, and Asia, and with the last bite, via a padron‑style cream, you land in Spain. It’s an exciting journey even though many of the dishes are built on recognizable classic ingredients in a somewhat upgraded guise. The red tongue (tongue) is fried and the pork side has an apple bake, which combines sweetness and acidity. A Pinot Grigio works nicely with both.
