The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Tribute to the Ocean's Finest

Since 1972, Fiskekrogen has stood as Göteborg's definitive address for fish and shellfish. The building on Lilla Torget dates to the mid-1800s, and the dining room commands immediate attention — stately pillars, generous space, and rows of champagne bottles lining the walls. White Guide, which awarded the restaurant its "Very Fine Level" distinction for 2026, puts it plainly: the room takes many people's breath away.

The story has older roots still. A fish shop opened on Prinsgatan in Göteborg in 1950, and the ethos carried forward into the restaurant that would become Fiskekrogen: fresh product, honest craft, no shortcuts.

What Arrives at the Table

The menu follows the seasons, and the kitchen composes special menus around key moments in the Swedish seafood calendar — most notably the annual lobster premiere. On any given evening, platters of lobster, dill-cooked crayfish, and oysters on ice are carried through the room by well-dressed staff. Every Friday and Saturday, the kitchen runs its popular fish and shellfish buffet, drawing regulars and first-timers alike.

The Swedish cuisine here is classical in spirit but never rigid — quality and craft are the constants, with the day's freshest catch determining what ends up on the plate. The wine cellar is taken seriously, and the team is happy to guide pairings.

The Room and the Crowd

On an ordinary Tuesday, Fiskekrogen is well-attended. Groups celebrating milestones, colleagues arriving straight from work, couples discovering the place for the first time, tourists who have done their research. The atmosphere is lively without being loud, formal enough to feel like an occasion, relaxed enough to linger.

Beyond the main dining room, the restaurant offers Feskens Bar for a more informal setting, a Chambre Séparée for private parties, conference facilities, boat charter, and catering — making it one of the more versatile addresses in the city for both everyday dinners and larger events.

For a city that takes its seafood seriously, Fiskekrogen has earned its place at the centre of the conversation.
