The story
Botanico occupies a floor above Aschebergsgatan 23, where wild tropical vegetation meets Scandinavian restraint. The concept comes from restaurateurs Tobias Andersson and Dan Enelund, who have brought what the White Guide describes as "the continental IT factor" to Gothenburg — wrapped in a sleek, jungle-inspired package that delights both the eyes and the palate.
The kitchen draws on nikkei, the culinary fusion of Peruvian and Japanese traditions. The result is a share-food menu of hot, tangy, eclectic dishes that pull from the best of Latin American and Asian cooking. Carefully composed plates are complemented by a well-chosen wine list spanning the Old and New Worlds — though it is the cocktail menu that truly rules the room. The signature Botánico Jungle Bird — dark rum, Campari, cava, and lime — holds its own as an aperitif and alongside the food in equal measure.
When the evening deepens, the Djungelbar one level down comes alive. A resident DJ sets the rhythm, turning the rainforest-inspired bar into a tropical meeting point in the middle of the city. Cocktails are shaken to the beat, and the atmosphere shifts into something altogether more electric. The White Guide put it plainly: here it is jungle Friday all week.
Beyond the main dining room, Botanico offers a private chambre séparée for up to 20 guests — suited to celebrations and corporate events alike. The outdoor terrace wraps along the building's façade with views toward the treetops of Vasaparken, open for both reservations and walk-ins, carrying the full Botanico atmosphere outside.
