The story
Inside a beautiful bank building from the turn of the last century in central Falun, two very different dining experiences share the same address. While the brasserie and bar hum with energy and lively crowds, Banken Två rum & kök occupies a quieter, more intimate corner — the former caretaker's residence — where the atmosphere feels more like a private dinner party than a restaurant visit. That contrast is entirely deliberate.
The restaurant is the work of Ingemar and Eva Eberstål, an experienced restaurateur couple whose combined expertise shapes everything on the table and in the glass. Ingemar leads the kitchen and front-of-house vision, while Eva brings her skills as a sommelier to the wine programme. Together they have built something that White Guide 2026 recognised at Fine level, praising the room's intimacy, personal character, and gastronomic ambition — a rare combination for a city of Falun's size.
The kitchen is rooted in Swedish produce and honest sourcing: locally raised meat, ethically sourced shellfish, and seasonal ingredients harvested at their peak. The menu follows the rhythm of the seasons rather than a fixed formula, and a tasting menu is available for those who want to hand the evening over entirely to the kitchen. Carefully selected wines, chosen by Eva, accompany each course.
Banken Två rum & kök is the kind of place you choose for a celebration, a significant dinner, or simply an evening when you want to eat very well and be looked after properly. The fine dining room operates on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings — a focused schedule that keeps the kitchen sharp and the experience consistent. Cooking classes are also offered for those who want to take a little of the kitchen home with them.
