The story
In the early 1930s, two sturdy connected stone houses were built in the heart of Brösarp's hills, surrounded by majestic pine trees. Originally the first care home in the area, the property became known as Talldungen — "the pine grove." Decades later, a family arrived with three children, a couple of dogs, a load of houseplants, and a clear intention: to create a place for the good, simple life of the countryside.
That vision has taken unmistakable shape. The lemon-yellow building with its white columns sits between the rolling hills of Brösarp and the vast fields of Ravlunda, its courtyard filled with guests sipping aperitifs, its parking lot reliably full. White Guide awarded Talldungen a "Very fine level" distinction in 2026, noting the energy and the notably diverse crowd — young, urban, and conscious diners alongside seasoned regulars who know good things when they find them.
The atmosphere at Talldungen is warm and generous without being precious. A recently renovated garden — described by White Guide as resembling a tamed, stony Zen-Buddhist project — is still growing into itself, with bare trellises soon to be covered in climbing plants. It's a place that is openly, honestly in progress, and that honesty suits it.
Beyond the restaurant, Talldungen operates as a full country hotel, with facilities for conferences, private parties, and breakfasts that extend the experience past dinner. Outdoor seating, a bar, and views of the surrounding landscape round out what is genuinely a destination rather than just a stop.
The kitchen works within the Swedish cuisine tradition — rooted in season, landscape, and simplicity — and the setting amplifies every plate. The promise the founders made when they arrived here, of great food, flowing wine, and genuine connection, is the same one the restaurant keeps making to every table that books.
For anyone traveling through Skåne, Talldungen is the kind of place worth planning a route around.
