The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Spanish Tradition in a Mountain Setting

Boqueria Åre brings the warmth and conviviality of Spanish food culture to the Swedish mountain resort of Åre. The concept is straightforward and honest: gather around the table, order generously, and share. The menu is exclusively Spanish — tapas, pintxos, charcuterie, cheeses, and larger raciones — all prepared with what the restaurant describes as "the very best from Spain" and their own distinct touch.

Part of the wider Boqueria family that also has restaurants in Stockholm and Gothenburg, the Åre outpost has carved out its own identity as a place where the après-ski crowd, families, couples, and groups all feel equally at home. The bar and dining room fill up with a mix of winter and summer guests, and the energy in the room reflects the spirit of the food itself — generous, unpretentious, and alive.

What White Guide Says

The White Guide, which awarded Boqueria Åre its Fine level recognition in 2026, put it plainly: "everyone finds something they like on the wonderfully exclusively Spanish menu." The guide praised the kitchen's ability to deliver dishes with distinct, well-defined flavors across a broad menu and a high volume of covers — no small feat. Standout mentions included cider-cooked pork sausage and artichokes with goat cheese, while the churros — freshly fried, served with crunchy chocolate sauce, dulce de leche, and vanilla ice cream — earned particular enthusiasm. The vegetarian options were called convincing, and the drinks list covers cocktails, beers, and a selection of Spanish wines.

The Table as the Point

At Boqueria Åre, the Spanish tapas format is the philosophy, not just the menu style. Dishes arrive to be passed around, tried, debated, and reordered. The kitchen rotates its highlights with the seasons, so returning guests can expect to discover something new alongside old favorites. Takeaway is also available for those who want to enjoy the food elsewhere. The restaurant is cashless.

White Guide — Fine level

Here it is lively and cheerful when families, couples, dogs and party groups in winter as well as summer fill the bar and dining room. And everyone finds something they like on the wonderfully exclusively Spanish menu. Much of it is of the cheese, charcuterie and tapas genre to share around the table, but there are also some ski‑sized portions. The servings have distinct flavors and are impressively well‑prepared considering the number of guests and dishes. The vegetarian options are convincing, as are the meat dishes. The recent favorites were the cider‑cooked pork sausage and the artichokes with goat cheese. Next time it will surely be something else. But to finish we prefer freshly fried hot churros with a crunchy chocolate sauce, dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream. Yum! The drinks menu lists a variety of cocktails, beers and fun Spanish wines.
