A Wine Bar Built Around Passion

Berria takes its name from Santoña beach, a place of deep personal significance for the team behind this Madrid institution. Positioned directly opposite the Puerta de Alcalá, within the Pasaje de la Luz — a passage declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site — Berria set out with a clear ambition: to become the definitive reference point for wine lovers in Madrid, whether locals or visitors passing through the capital.

That ambition has earned it recognition. Wine Spectator awarded Berria its prestigious Best of Award of Excellence in 2022, a distinction that reflects the seriousness and depth of the wine program here.

The Wine List

The cellar holds more than 2,000 references, with around 100 wines available by the glass at any given time — a selection that rotates constantly to keep things fresh and surprising. It is a breadth rarely found in Madrid, and it is the core of everything Berria does.

Accompanying the wine is a gastronomic offer grounded in high-quality raw ingredients and straightforward, honest preparations. The kitchen serves as a complement rather than a distraction — the wine is always the protagonist.

Stepping inside or taking a seat on the terrace means access to bottles from across the world's great wine regions, presented by a young team that genuinely cares about what ends up in your glass.

Club Berria

For those who want to go deeper, Club Berria offers a more intimate experience. Limited to one hundred members, the club provides access to rare and exclusive references, private winery tours, and producer presentations. As Tomás Ucha, head of sommeliers at Berria, puts it: "Holding events and being able to share the wine experience is a fundamental part of this project and what shapes Berria's DNA."
