The Margaux Grill

Seoul's premier wood-fire grill restaurant, honoured by Wine Spectator every year since 2020, set inside a glass-walled European garden at JW Marriott.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Garden in the Sky

Open since 2018 on the seventh floor of the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, The Margaux Grill has established itself as one of the city's most distinctive fine-dining addresses. The space is designed to evoke a European secret garden: grass, herbs and trees frame a main dining hall enclosed by all-glass walls and ceiling, where natural light shifts in quality and colour through every hour of the day. It is a setting that feels both dramatic and genuinely calm.

The Ritual Before the Meal

Before a single dish arrives, guests are invited to choose from 12 cutlery sets — a quietly theatrical touch that sets the tone for the evening. At the restaurant entrance, 60 steak knives crafted by master artisans from around the world are displayed as a statement of intent. This is, at its core, a grill restaurant that takes its craft seriously.

All beef is butchered in house, aged to peak tenderness, and cooked over Korean seasonal woods on a custom-built open-fire grill and Josper charcoal oven. The centrepiece of the American grill menu is Korean Hanwoo 1++ beef — tenderloin, striploin and rib-eye — alongside US Prime cuts including a 1kg Porterhouse. A Hanwoo 1++ Special brings together four cuts on a single plate. Fish from Jeju, Australian lamb chops, seared lobster and scallops, and a cioppino seafood stew round out the range for those who prefer the sea.

Wine, Privacy and the MOBO Bar

To the left of the main hall, MOBO Bar combines floor-to-ceiling glass, an expansive wine cellar and an outdoor terrace serving luxury cocktails. It is the wine programme that has earned The Margaux Grill its sustained international recognition: Wine Spectator has awarded the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence every year since 2020 — seven consecutive years as of 2026 — a distinction that places it among the most seriously stocked dining rooms in South Korea.

Two glasshouse-inspired private dining rooms, surrounded by garden scenery, accommodate intimate celebrations and family gatherings. Lunch sets and dinner sets offer structured multi-course formats, while the full à la carte menu — ranging from Hanwoo beef tartare with pear and crisp sweet potato to caviar service with Osetra or Beluga — gives regulars room to explore at their own pace.

Getting There

The restaurant sits within Central City in Gangnam's Banpo district, directly connected to Express Bus Terminal station (lines 3, 7 and 9), making it straightforward to reach from anywhere in Seoul.
