Sartoria Lamberti

William Lamberti's gastronomic atelier on Tverskaya blends Italian passion for food with the craft of Neapolitan tailoring. Recognized by Gambero Rosso.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Russia's First Gastronomic Atelier

Sartoria Lamberti is the personal project of William Lamberti — restaurateur, concept chef, and one of the figures credited with reshaping contemporary Moscow dining. The restaurant occupies the ground floor of The Carlton hotel on Tverskaya Street, one of the city's most storied addresses, and its premise is deceptively simple: food and fashion are both Italian arts, and both are, at their core, about the individual.

"Food and fashion — these two things are in the blood of Italians," Lamberti has said. "I dreamed of uniting them in one project, because both are not only about beauty and taste. They are about an individual approach to each guest, about the highest level of service — the defining quality of Neapolitan sartorie."

A Space Tailored to the Last Detail

Step inside and the concept becomes literal. Just past the entrance sits a small atelier where a seamstress embroiders monograms on gifts for guests. Display cases have featured exhibits from the Italian Fashion Museum, costumes by designer Igor Chapurin created for ballerina Svetlana Zakharova's production Amore, dresses from the Rasario label, and installations by artist Maria Yankovskaya. The interior artwork throughout was created by Anastasia Makovskaya.

Every object in the room reinforces the metaphor: cutlery with needle-eye handles, pendant lights shaped like shirt cuffs, miniature irons, oversized thread spools. Even the uniforms of the waitstaff and hostesses were made to measure by a Russian fashion designer. The effect is a dining room that feels genuinely crafted rather than decorated.

Recognition and the Table

Gambero Rosso, the authoritative Italian food guide, awarded Sartoria Lamberti a fork — a meaningful distinction for an Italian-concept restaurant operating outside Italy, and a signal that the kitchen's ambitions are taken seriously by those who know the source material best. The menu spans late chef's breakfasts through to a full bar and wine list, with the kitchen running daily from noon to midnight, accommodating everything from private parties and banquets to a quiet lunch.

What Lamberti has built on Tverskaya is not a theme restaurant but a considered argument: that Italian fine dining, when approached with the precision and personal attention of a master tailor, becomes something singular.
