The story
On a quiet street near Kitay-gorod, Officina Ristorante makes good on a simple, honest promise: un pezzo d'Italia nel centro di Mosca — a piece of Italy in the heart of Moscow. The restaurant was conceived by its owner and menu creator, Pierangelo Carbonara, who wanted to recreate the familiar atmosphere of an Italian city café — a place where friends gather for an aperitivo, a romantic dinner, or simply a long, unhurried meal. That intention comes through in every corner of the room.
Pierangelo Carbonara is both the driving force and the creative hand at Officina. His approach is personal rather than theatrical: build a menu around dishes that feel natural to an Italian, then let the ingredients speak. The result earned Officina recognition from Gambero Rosso, Italy's most authoritative food and wine guide, which awarded the restaurant a Fork — a mark of genuine quality that carries particular weight when applied to Italian cuisine outside Italy.
The signature dishes reflect a kitchen comfortable with both simplicity and technique. Beef tartare comes with crisp fries and truffle oil; tortellini are filled with salmon and finished in a caviar sauce; duck leg confit arrives with a berry reduction. Pasta holds its own place of pride — carbonara, naturally, alongside rigatoni with beef and mushrooms, and spaghetti with seafood. Caramelised peaches with honey, gorgonzola and tarragon show a lighter, more playful side. Sea bass fillet with chickpeas rounds out a menu that moves confidently between Italian classics and seasonal ideas.
Outdoor seating is available for warmer months, extending the café-like ease that defines Officina's character. Whether you come for a weekday dinner or a leisurely weekend lunch, the atmosphere holds to Carbonara's original vision: convivial, unfussy, and genuinely Italian.
