The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

The Mansion on the Patriarch Ponds

Butler occupies a historic mansion on Trekhprudny Lane, one of Moscow's most storied addresses, just steps from the famous Patriarch Ponds. Part of the Ginza Project holding, the restaurant has built its reputation on what its team calls "irreproachable Sicilian cuisine" – a commitment that has earned it recognition from the MICHELIN Moscow guide and, most recently, Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence for 2025, a distinction that speaks directly to the depth and curation of its cellar.

Chef Giuseppe Davi and the Sicilian Soul

The kitchen is led by maestro Giuseppe Davi, whose story is inseparable from the restaurant's identity. Born in northern Italy, he spent every summer with his grandmother in Sicily – an experience that ignited a lifelong devotion to Italian gastronomy and Sicilian cooking in particular. He began working in professional kitchens at sixteen, and his résumé includes stints alongside celebrated chefs Claudio Ruta at La Fenice (1 Michelin star) and Pino Cuttaia at La Madia (2 Michelin stars). Before Butler, Davi spent seven years heading the kitchen of Moscow's legendary Semifreddo, during which the restaurant appeared on the San Pellegrino World's Best Restaurants list and in the Le Soste guide.

At Butler, Davi channels that accumulated experience into a classic menu that balances time-tested Italian gastronomic hits with seasonal offerings built around the freshest available produce. Pastas, pizzas, and risottos shift with the seasons – chanterelles, porcini mushrooms, and truffles appear when the moment calls for them. When the weather turns warm, several varieties of homemade gelato, prepared to classic Italian recipes, take their place on the menu. Custom-made cakes for celebrations and corporate events round out the pastry offering.

Atmosphere and Occasions

The setting changes with the seasons as well. In summer, Butler opens what it describes as the greenest terrace in Moscow; in winter, the interior transforms into something close to a fairytale forest in the heart of the city. Separate private rooms, fitted out to a standard the restaurant compares to luxury hotel suites, are available for intimate dinners and VIP gatherings. Jazz evenings featuring world-class guest artists have become a signature of the house, drawing dedicated followers of the genre.

Whether the occasion is a family brunch, a business lunch, a children's party, or a large festive event, Butler frames every visit around the same principle: beauty as a balance of great Sicilian and Italian cuisine, a setting where no detail is treated as trivial, and an atmosphere that is carefully considered at every turn.
