The story
Villa Eva occupies a quietly distinctive spot on Gdańsk's dining map, combining an intimate restaurant with a wine bar that has earned recognition from Wine Spectator — one of the world's most authoritative voices on wine. That Award of Excellence is no small thing, and it reflects a genuine passion for wine that runs through everything here.
The kitchen is rooted in seasonal Polish cuisine, with a traditional menu supplemented by two more immersive options: a literary menu inspired by Günter Grass's pantry — a nod to the Nobel laureate's deep ties to Gdańsk — and a chef's sampling menu available on request. Guests have noted the quality of local ingredients, the depth of flavour in the dishes, and the care with which everything is presented. The food and wine are treated as equals: one guest put it simply as "excellent dishes paired with exquisite wines... and excellent wines paired with exquisite dishes."
Two dining rooms and a flower garden make Villa Eva well suited to different moods and seasons. The garden is a particular draw on warm days, offering a rare sense of calm within the city. The atmosphere throughout is described by regulars as intimate and elegant without being stiff — the owner is known to be a visible, attentive presence, which sets the tone for the whole team.
Over 200 labels span the most interesting wine regions across six continents, including natural wines and Polish wines. Sixteen of those labels are available by the glass — an unusually generous selection that makes serious exploration accessible. For those who prefer spirits, a broad range of cognacs, whiskeys and vodkas rounds out the drinks offering.
Villa Eva is also a hotel and event venue, with catering and private party facilities that extend its reach well beyond the dinner table. A lunch menu runs alongside the evening service, and the space handles everything from corporate gatherings to weddings.
