The story
Situated on the UG Floor of Okada Manila's Crystal Corridor, La Piazza is the resort's signature Italian restaurant — a space where the depth of Italy's regional cuisines is taken seriously and served with genuine care. The Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence speaks to the kitchen and cellar's combined ambition: this is Italian dining held to an international standard.
The restaurant divides naturally into two distinct atmospheres. The Trattoria, accented with barrel tables and an inviting bar counter, sets a relaxed tone suited to freshly made focaccia, pizza, and aperitivo-style grazing. A few steps away, the Ristorante shifts the register entirely — crystal chandeliers, plush seating, and an unobstructed view of The Fountain frame a more leisurely, course-by-course experience of antipasti, pasta, steak, and seafood, finished with desserts and a selection of grappa.
Wine is treated as a discipline here, not a footnote. Head Sommelier and Beverage Manager JC Tongco oversees every element of the program — purchasing, list construction, and tableside guidance through pairings. His path began with a bartender's curiosity about what separates one bottle from another, a question that drew the attention of a mentor sommelier and eventually led him to 2nd place in the inaugural Philippine Sommelier Competition in 2017. The restaurant's exclusive wine cellar houses a carefully selected and preserved collection of premium and sought-after bottles, the foundation of the recognition La Piazza has earned from Wine Spectator.
For a more intimate occasion, La Piazza offers a Chef's Table experience: a curated five-course tasting menu paired with award-winning wines, designed for two and priced at PHP 25,000 nett. Advance booking of seven days is required. It is the clearest expression of what this Italian restaurant does at its most focused — personal, precise, and unhurried.
