The story
On the sun-facing side of Kristiansand's Fiskebrygga, Hos Moi occupies one of the city's most distinctive restaurant spaces. The interior features original artwork by Kjell Nupen, and the room itself is divided into several distinct areas: a brasserie seating 60–80 guests, a private chambre séparée for 8–10, a Seaside room with close proximity to the water, and a Lysthus with its own lounge character. In summer, a lively outdoor terrace opens daily from 13:00, catching the long Scandinavian evening sun.
The kitchen draws its primary inspiration from French cuisine while incorporating local Norwegian ingredients of top quality alongside carefully sourced produce from further afield. The result is a brasserie menu built around classics, served with the kind of attentive, personal service that the restaurant places at the heart of its identity. As the team puts it, the goal is that every guest leaves already looking forward to their next visit.
Wine is taken seriously here. Hos Moi holds the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence — recognition that reflects both the depth of the cellar and the knowledge of the staff. The list spans classic wine regions from around the world, with what the restaurant describes as "treasures at favorable prices."
Attached to the restaurant, though with its own street entrance from the cultural promenade at the back, sits TheRedDotWinebar. Its private chambre séparée for 12 seats looks directly onto the large wine cellar — a fitting backdrop for wine tastings, private dinners, or events arranged on request. The wine bar operates seasonally, closing through the summer months when the outdoor terrace takes centre stage.
