Gastrovino La Liguria in Leidschendam, part of The Hague area, is the flagship location of the Gastrovino concept — a place where wine shop and restaurant bar blur into one coherent, unhurried experience. The premise is straightforward: sommeliers, product specialists and hosts share the same floor, so whether you sit down for lunch or browse for a bottle to take home, the same depth of knowledge is available to you.

That depth has earned the venue a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025 — recognition reserved for wine lists that demonstrate exceptional breadth and intelligent selection. With more than 750 wines from producers worldwide, the list is built to satisfy both the curious newcomer and the seasoned collector.

The Wine Closet and the Drive-Thru

For those chasing a prestigious vintage or a bottle for a milestone occasion, the in-house Wine Closet holds the most sought-after labels, all stored at a constant 16 degrees. Staff will walk you through the selection personally. On the practical side, Gastrovino La Liguria also operates what it calls the first Wine Drive Thru in the Netherlands: buy your bottles inside, pull your car around to the rear of the building, and the team loads them for you.

Italian at the Table, Slow Food at the Source

The Italian side of the operation is taken seriously. The kitchen works with Slow Food-certified ingredients — a philosophy the restaurant describes as "pure, clean and honest eating and drinking." That means San Marzano tomatoes, 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, Gorgonzola D.O.P., Caciocavallo from Basilicata and sea salt from Cervia, among others. Luxury delicatessen items — salmon, truffle, caviar — are sourced from dozens of countries alongside traditional Italian products imported directly from Italy.

At the bar you can stop for an Italian espresso, a plate of Pizza Taglio, or a proper glass of wine. The atmosphere is described as convivial and unhurried — a natural pause before, during or after a visit to the surrounding shopping area. Home delivery is also available for those who prefer the wine to come to them.
