Situated right on the water above Medano Beach at Villa del Arco Beach Resort & Spa, Neptune earns its name from the Roman god of the seas — and the setting lives up to the mythology. Sweeping views of El Arco and the Sea of Cortez form the backdrop for an al fresco dinner experience where the fresh sea breeze and the sound of the Pacific set the tone before the first course arrives.

The restaurant holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (2024), recognition that reflects one of the largest wine selections in Los Cabos — a list built to match a menu that moves between the delicate and the bold.

French Technique, Baja Soul

The kitchen draws inspiration from the coastal towns of Mexico while applying classic French technique to everything that comes out of it. The result is seafood cooking that feels precise without losing the casual warmth of Cabo. Cold appetizers include a tuna tartare with avocado, cactus pads, and onion ash, a green ceviche of parrot fish with sesame oil and apple, and a hamachi tiradito lifted by tropical guacamole, grapefruit, and pasilla mixe chile sauce. Neptune's seafood platter — shrimp, oysters, and chocolate clams with a trio of sauces — signals what this kitchen does best.

Hot starters push further: fried octopus with avocado purée and chile-garlic sauce, a lobster soup finished with a lobster medallion, and Loreto clam with ponzu and lime. Among the main courses, Baja-style lobster arrives with chorizo potatoes, bean sauce, cotija cheese, and fennel butter, while seared sea bass rests on butternut squash purée with bunapi mushrooms and garlic chips. The Asian influence woven through the menu — ponzu, sesame, soy-fried chiles — gives the seafood cooking a distinctive edge that sets Neptune apart from a straightforward fish house.

Neptune is an evening restaurant, open daily for drinks and dinner. The dress code — collared shirts for gentlemen, dress shoes for all, no flip flops — signals that this is a place that takes the experience seriously without being stiff about it. The romantic ambiance works equally well for couples and larger groups, and the outdoor seating means the view is always part of the meal.
