The story
Bar Esquina sits steps from Medano Beach inside Bahia Hotel & Beach House, and it earns its reputation as the social center of Cabo San Lucas from breakfast through last call. Open to hotel guests and outside visitors alike, it draws a crowd that ranges from locals to travelers who keep coming back — some, apparently, three times in a single trip.
The day starts at the dedicated coffee shop: barista-crafted espresso, fresh-baked pastries, beach-ready smoothies, and full breakfast on the terrace with the morning light. By midday, the mood stays easy — wood-fired pizzas, lobster sliders, a cold cerveza. Come evening, the kitchen stays open, the lights soften, and a live band takes over. Music plays seven nights a week, long tables fill up, and the energy builds in a way that makes every dinner feel like a proper occasion.
The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Mariano Takinami, whose menu draws from Baja's local bounty and Mediterranean traditions in equal measure. The result is a Baja-Mediterranean cuisine rooted in the freshest regional seafood, vibrant produce, and signature wood-fired preparations — food that reflects the culture of the peninsula without leaning on cliché.
Bar Esquina holds the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, a distinction that reflects the seriousness of its beverage program. Curated by Sommelier and Food & Beverage Director Nizuniro Altamirano, the list spans more than 250 wines from around the world, chosen specifically to complement the Baja-Mediterranean cuisine on the plate. Alongside the wine list, the bar pours signature cocktails, craft beers, and thoughtful zero-proof options — from sunlit spritzes early in the afternoon to late-night mezcal when the band is in full swing.
Beyond daily service, Bar Esquina accommodates private events and full buyouts for up to 90 guests, whether on the terrace or inside. Custom menus and flexible arrangements make it a practical choice for birthdays, corporate dinners, and wedding-related gatherings — the kind of setting where the details are handled and the focus stays on the people around the table.
