The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Southern Italian Legacy in the Heart of Macau

Don Alfonso 1890 is the Macau outpost of the Michelin-starred, family-owned restaurant in Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, brought to life by the Iaccarino family as a tribute to the millenary food traditions of Italy's Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. Helmed by Chef Ernesto Iaccarino, the restaurant carries that lineage into one of Asia's most glamorous resort settings — Level 3 of Palazzo Versace Macau at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort.

The recognition it has earned is considerable: a Michelin star from the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong | Macau 2026, a Five-Star Award from Forbes Travel Guide, a Diamond from the Trip.Gourmet 2026 Global Selection, a Two-Star rating from the Golden Phoenix Tree China Restaurant Guide, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence. That last honour reflects a wine collection among the largest in the world, spanning more than 450,000 bottles across roughly 16,000 labels — a list that also debuted at China's Wine List of the Year Awards 2025 with the top "3 Glass Award" rating.

Farm-to-Table, Sourced from the Family's Own Land

What sets Don Alfonso 1890 apart from other Italian restaurants in Macau is its founding commitment to provenance. The kitchen imports San Marzano tomatoes, Nocellara del Belice olives, and Namonte lemons directly from Le Peracciole, the family's own organic farm in Punta Campanella. Premium seasonal ingredients and vegetables are also brought in from their home regions in Southern Italy, ensuring each dish is rooted in genuine place rather than approximation.

The Forbes Travel Guide highlights several standout preparations: organic vegetables served with horseradish ice cream, a saffron-glazed wild grouper, and a white truffle set menu — the Menu Tartufo Bianco — that moves through six courses from risotto to hazelnut soufflé. For lunch, lighter but equally considered options include smoked yellowtail with grapefruit mayonnaise and spaghetti with clams and Amalfi lemon.

Versace Glamour Meets Neapolitan Warmth

The dining room itself is a considered work of design. The handcrafted terrazzo floor, with its rosette and flower motifs, draws from the historic Versace Villa on Lake Como. Bespoke furniture and Rosenthal x Versace tableware echo the house's Asian Dream motif, while paintings from Versace's Palace collection line the walls alongside the fashion house's signature Barocco pattern. The result is an atmosphere that is vibrant and convivial without sacrificing the intimacy expected of serious Italian cooking.

For those new to the restaurant, the Menu la Tradizione offers the clearest introduction to the kitchen's range — a structured path through the specialties that have made this one of the most decorated Italian restaurants in Macau.
